Private collection of centuries-old Roman sculptures on display in Montreal
In the 19th century, Italian prince, banker and collector Alessandro Torlonia, gathered 623 ancient Roman sculptures. After being shown at the Louvre in Paris, the Torlonia Collection has touched down in Montreal, where it will remain on view at the Museum of Fine Arts until July 19.

On an advertising column between St Joseph’s Chapel and St Lambert’s Church in Düsseldorf’s old town stands the sculpture group ‘Mother and Child’. It is part of the series of sculptures known as the ‘Säulenheilige' (Column Saints) by the artist Christoph Pöggeler.
