It was been the advice of the German government for some time to have supplies set by in case of emergency and we have always had a little put by. But over the last week we have made more space in the cellar and installed some shelving units to hold more in our own emergency stockpile. The world is such an unpredictable place right now, and the recent power outage in Berlin showed the necessity of having supplies to access.

The rock cellars built into the soft red sandstone in Honzrath (Beckingen municipality, Merzig-Wadern district, Saarland) are quite well known. It is said that there were once around 140 such rock cellars there.
