Just watched our postal delivery person pull up and leave the parking lot in a brand NEW Unmarked Delivery Van!
Note: No Amazon packages were visible so he's not suddenly working for their delivery service
/1 Comment: I had a trans friend / socialist / activist (Marie; passed April 2025) who was a retired Canada Post employee.
She had a poster (CUPW?) from the early 70's era espousing trans rights. The specifics are fuzzy to me now, but 100% 2SLGBTQIA+ affirming, decades ago. 🙏 🏳️⚧️ 🏳️🌈

Nonsense update from Canada Post, it's CanPost dragging their heels not CUPW.
I am once again waking up to a sad world where our postal workers are not supported by the postal company, and I have no letters in my mailbox :sob:
I keep wondering if my confirmation of receipt letter for name change is in the mail, and perhaps even scarier if the APPROVAL letter is sitting in the mail somewhere.
Canada Post is considering its options to move negotiations forward as talks with the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) have ground to a halt on key issues critical to the Corporation's future.
"There has to be a way to make Canada Post viable. It's a very important service for many Canadians and many small businesses," said Stephanie Ross, a Bathurst native and associate professor of labour relations at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ont.

Potential strike coming from Canadian postal workers.
Today, the Canadian Union of Postal Workers (CUPW) announced it has received a strike mandate following a vote from its members. This means that they will have the legal right to strike starting November 3, if a minimum 72-hour notice has been provided.
On September 25, Canada Post presented proposals to protect and enhance what’s important to employees, within the Corporation’s financial constraints, while making the changes that are necessary to better serve Canadians and Canadian businesses in today’s demanding parcel delivery market.
CUPW presented counter-offers to Canada Post on October 7, and the two sides continue to negotiate. The company remains committed to proceeding with urgency and finding the common ground necessary to reach agreements.

Canada Post proposes new postage rates for 2024
Price of a domestic stamp in a booklet, coil or pane would rise to 99 cents
Canada Post is proposing to increase postage rates in 2024. For stamps purchased in a booklet, coil or pane, which represent the majority of stamp sales, the rate would increase by seven cents, to 99 cents per stamp.
The new rates would take effect May 6, 2024.
Permanent stamps will always be accepted at the current domestic postage price.
The proposed rate changes would also affect other products, including U.S., international letter-post and domestic Registered Mail items. The price of a single stamp for a domestic letter (30 grams or less) would increase from $1.07 to $1.15. When purchased in a booklet, coil or pane, the price would increase from 92 cents to 99 cents per stamp.
