It seems to me the the bit about #Plasma #KDE in the #FreeBSD #Handbook Chapter 8. Desktop Environments could use some better phrasing:

To install the Plasma desktop with a basic set of KDE Applications, execute: pkg install kde
Additional KDE Applications are tagged with the kde-applications category.
To install a minimal Plasma desktop, execute: pkg install plasma6-plasma.
This installation is really minimal. The Konsole terminal emulator must be installed separately executing: pkg install konsole.
One would suspect that the plasma6-plasma option should be the minimal desktop session for the desktop environment. However, when I try it in a VM running 15.0-RELEASE-p4 with base #Xorg and #CWM installed, the pkg instak kde reported 541 new packages were to be downloaded and installed, while pkg install plasma6-plasma reported 572.

Chapter 8. Desktop Environments

This chapter demonstrates how to install numerous desktop environments, including web browsers, productivity software, document viewers, and financial software

FreeBSD Documentation Portal
quickly tested #wayland with #sway on #openbsd:

browsers are 2-3% faster than in #xenocara

trackpad and trackpoint are not working as expected

whole setup a bit more complicated (starting from tty0, installing extra packages, extra line in fbtab, etc)

for this week at least i'm switching back to good old #x11 and #cwm :)

@[email protected] check /etc/fbtab - does it contain /dev/dri/card0 and /dev/dri/renderD128 if not, it should (https://cvsweb.openbsd.org/checkout/src/etc/etc.amd64/fbtab,v?rev=1.9) ... and you need login from ttyC0. Firefox scrolling will probably be fixed with a pkg update the next few days. For now, try disabling soft scrolling.

@jbz as expected. I switched to #OpenBSD #cwm years ago. Life is easy.
I tried #TWM #CWM #CTWM #FVWM and #evilWM as well as #IceWM . It appeared iceWM had so many features from background setting, panel/taskbar customization to window decoration styles and placement. Starting to wonder if it should be called a desktop environment #DE instead of window manager #WM .

#FOSS #UNIX #BSD #LINUX
#Some #twm setup I've borrowed from somewhere might look cool, but in
order to avoid #rsi in my old #netbook the #cwm window manager is no
match for any one. Everything it's keyboard bound.

@alatartheblue @fbievan

I recall #CWM had a very similar feature. That window manager was a trip. XD

@lily #OpenBSD defaults to #x11 and #cwm. Last I heard #wayland was still being ported.
