So, I had quite a bit of buffer in Munich to account for DB delays and my first train arrived mostly on time (only ca. 25 min late) so I still had plenty of time to visit the local trains!
Nothing surprising: generous bicycle spaces in regional trains, not so much in long-distance trains in comparison. But a little photo shooting is always nice! 📸🧵

I feel a tad paternalized by the advice sticker, where an athletic person easily whisks their bike to the bike rack of a Finnish IC train.
In reality, that is impossible with my bike. Also, the bike is too big to be left on the floor horizontally, since it would block the exit. So, a strap and a few curses to the rescue, I got the bike approximately where it should be. Add a lot more cursing for taking it down.
It’s so much easier in commuting trains. And free.

Just decide: Either go the German way of carriages where bikes can be removed independently. Or go the Japanese way of forcing everyone to bag their bikes. With a little bit more luggage space.
The undecided mix of approaches their doing makes their railways just more miserable for everyone.

First one is a freebie: the first and last ~10km of each end of the trip are not covered by busses in any useful fashion and I didn’t wanna rely on cabs or other cars, that’s why I’m taking the bike.
