Upcycled a hand embroidered bargello pillow cover that echoes the colours in our rug. Thrifted the original (with powder blue satin ruffle) for a couple dollars, took it apart, and fashioned a border and back from curtain offcuts to make one that suits me better. People give these things away not appreciating the hours of work that went into them.

An experiment for today's #ArtAdventCalendar. I was investigating an idea to used #Bargello for the border for #Placidus. I don't think I'll be using it, but it was interesting and enjoyable to do. False starts and dead ends abound in what I do!

The beauty of photography is in the angles you choose.

Florence reveals its history in layers, depending on how you frame it. In my last post, Neptune stood as the focal point, but here, the Marzocco—the proud lion of Florence—takes center stage, gripping the city’s emblem as a symbol of strength and independence.

Behind it, the Badia Fiorentina rises with its striking Gothic bell tower, once a powerful Benedictine abbey. To the right, the Bargello, a medieval fortress-turned-museum, adds to the depth of Florence’s story—a past shaped by politics, art, and revolution.

A shift in perspective, and the city tells a new tale. That’s the magic of both travel and photography—seeing the same place in a different light.
