That's my style of top. I keep making the Helen's Closet #AshtonTop again and again, with any fabrics that I love. It's more of an A-line profile, though.
It's a wonderful season to enjoy the Great Indoors, and I've done some organization of my sewing/living area. I moved most of my stash into a Kallax organizer in the living/sewing room. I'm working away on a little of this and a little of that, but I've made good progress on the garments that were gifted to me, as well as the #AshtonTop made from fabric I purchased in #korea. For the 4-5 days of actual daylight, it's a good space to use.
My Korean #LanguageLearning continues to go well. The current #Duolingo lessons are full of helpful verbs and useful sentence formats. My online language companions keep me on track.
I've completed reading all 3 books for next week's book clubs. None was excellent, although one was a Booker Prize winner. It will be nice to have book discussions.
I'm committed to attending a women's biking brunch tomorrow, so I did a test ride. Excellent conditions for a couple of blocks and then solid ice for the next. Apparently, my car's battery is dead. Waiting for a boost.
The weather has been extreme the last couple of days, and my toes were tiny blocks of ice every time I had to venture out. Still, I chose to venture out to my monthly in-store sewing group. Turns out that I have become the talkative one, depending on who else shows up. I nicely got in-seam pockets attached to the rayon skirt that used to be a dress. And then, I realized that I'd done the French seams backwards on all 4 panels. I wonder how many times I'm doomed to make this error in my lifetime. I followed up by attaching bias tape to the neckline and armholes of my latest #AshtonTop, made with a floral fabric that I bought in #Jeju # Korea.
There is a bit of a treat competition among the regulars (not me). Today's delight was this fancy jar full of fudges. The pistachio fudge was divine!
The meatloaf was the lovechild of the bag of ground #bison that I'd defrosted, and the kala chana masala that I brought home from the library cooking class.
The fall weather has changed a lot this week. The light and the temperature have become much more wintry. Also, the wind whipped the leaves off most trees. The larch/tamarack tree here retains its golden needles.
I made #kimchi at the start of the week, which has now been refrigerated. I realized that I bought no daikon 무 this week, and I don't think I'll make that mistake again. The flavour is good, but not great.
It was my final #sewing class of the year, and I'm making yet another longer, pocketed #AshtonTop, this time using a batik from #******************Singapore. I love this print, and I'm adding the border from the print to the bottom, as well as experimenting with backdarts. Today was my out-of-town sew day, and I continued with the project. I don't plan to make that trip for the rest of this year.
Yesterday was a walk at a bird sanctuary. After multiple years of drought, the boardwalk has been chopped down, so footing was awkward. Cinnamon buns/coffee were enjoyed at the end.

It's not unlike the #AshtonTop, which I've made a 1/2 dozen times, now. The button closure is unique. That's a very flattering fabric for you!
If she could only sew one thing, Helen would choose: denim! πŸ‘–β€οΈβ

In this week's episode, we share a bunch of listener answers to the question, "If you could only sew one thing, what would it be?" And, of course, we share our own answers, too! Helen made an excellent choice. Denim is sturdy, but it wears in beautifully. It comes in every shade, but the indigo ones are the best. And it's so satisfying to finish it with beautiful topstitching. Here are some of Helen's denim me-mades:

πŸ‘– A pair of light wash denim #FalconerPants

πŸ‘– Dark wash #YantaOveralls

πŸ‘– An #AshtonTop mini-dress hack

πŸ‘– A patchwork shift dress made from three pairs of Sam's old jeans!

Do you like sewing with denim?

@napalousa I've made several #HelensCloset #AshtonTop sleeveless shirts. I have everything laid out on my newly purchased cutting table to make another. The pattern adapts well to most woven fabrics. I like the hemline, which is a separate pattern piece.
@kamikat
When you find something that works, you might as well put it on repeat! I'm on #4 of the #HinterlandDress and the #AshtonTop.
I find that each iteration teaches me new lessons.

#MeMadeMay #WearableToile of the #AshtonTop and PH shorts with #pockets and #FrenchSeams. The garments both took an incredibly long time to because so many steps were firsts and I made every possible. Still, they’re very comfy PJs. I really like the add-on #pockets on the Ashton, since they hold my iPhone very securely. The pockets on the shorts got taken up by the waistband so they aren’t so functional. SO much learning with both of these. #sewing
#MeMadeMay Every night is me-made PJs that are wearable toiles. Modified #AshtonTop and #ChanterellePants made from a thrifted sheet. #ItHasPockets #sewing
