AGI - L'attore americano Sean Penn, che ieri ha vinto il suo terzo Oscar come miglior attore non protagonista per il film "Una battaglia dopo l'altra" in una cerimonia a cui non ha partecipato, è di nuovo in Ucraina, dove ha incontrato il presidente Volodymyr Zelensky per mostrare il suo sostegno al Paese di fronte all'invasione russa.
Già vincitore di un Oscar per i suoi ruoli in Mystic River e Milk, Sean Penn è stato avvistato mentre scendeva da un'auto ed entrava in un hotel di Kiev, con i capelli bianchi spettinati e gli occhiali da sole. Si tratta di una "visita privata", ha dichiarato un alto funzionario ucraino. "Vuole semplicemente sostenere l'Ucraina", ha aggiunto.
Il saluto di Zelensky a Penn
Il presidente ucraino Volodymyr Zelensky ha salutato Penn come "un vero amico dell'Ucraina" in un messaggio sui social media, accompagnato da una foto che lo ritrae nel suo ufficio mentre incontra l'attore.

"Sei stato al fianco dell'Ucraina fin dal primo giorno della guerra su vasta scala. E questo rimane vero ancora oggi. E sappiamo che continuerai a stare al fianco del nostro Paese e del nostro popolo", ha aggiunto Zelensky nel messaggio. Il presidente ucraino aveva dichiarato in un'intervista all'AFP a febbraio di aver visto e "adorato" il film del regista Paul Anderson per il quale Penn ha vinto la statuetta.
Le visite di Penn in Ucraina e l'amicizia con Zelensky
Sean Penn, un noto sostenitore di Kiev a Hollywood, ha già visitato l'Ucraina diverse volte dall'inizio dell'invasione russa su larga scala nel 2022. Nel 2023 ha anche co-diretto un documentario su Volodymyr Zelensky, a sua volta ex attore comico.

Il film, un ritratto ammirato di Zelensky che ripercorre la sua spettacolare ascesa da comico a signore della guerra, è stato presentato in anteprima al Festival del Cinema di Berlino nel 2023. Durante le interviste in cui riflettevano sui primi mesi dell'invasione dell'Ucraina, Penn e Zelensky hanno stretto quella che entrambi hanno definito una profonda amicizia.

A-G-I - American actor Sean Penn, who yesterday won his third Oscar as best supporting actor for the film “All the Way Up” at a ceremony he did not attend, is back in Ukraine, where he met with President Volodymyr Zelensky to show his support for the country in the face of the Russian invasion.

Having previously won an Oscar for his roles in Mystic River and Milk, Sean Penn was spotted getting out of a car and entering a hotel in Kyiv, with his white hair tousled and sunglasses on. It is a “private visit,” said a senior Ukrainian official. “He simply wants to support Ukraine,” he added.

Zelensky’s Greeting to Penn
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky greeted Penn as “a true friend of Ukraine” in a social media post, accompanied by a photo of him in his office meeting the actor.

“You’ve been by Ukraine’s side since the first day of the large-scale war. And that remains true today. And we know that you will continue to be by our country and our people’s side,” Zelensky added in the message. The Ukrainian president had stated in an interview with AFP in February that he had seen and “loved” the film by director Paul Anderson for which Penn won the statuette.

Penn’s Visits to Ukraine and Friendship with Zelensky
Sean Penn, a well-known advocate for Kyiv in Hollywood, has already visited Ukraine several times since the start of the large-scale Russian invasion in 2022. In 2023, he also co-directed a documentary about Volodymyr Zelensky, who is also a former comedian.

The film, an admiring portrait of Zelensky that chronicles his spectacular rise from comedian to wartime leader, premiered at the Berlin Film Festival in 2023. During interviews reflecting on the early months of the invasion of Ukraine, Penn and Zelensky forged what both described as a deep friendship.
