No trimming today as I can't be bothered, met some plotters, had a very interesting conversation about the community plot and who stole the material after that management left.

Yesterday I was told its was the previous group, today was told it was the present group...

At my plot was chuffed and surprised to find tiny yellow flowers on the olive tree! And on the thyme, a bumblebee!! (*)

Been plucking horse tail. Am now reading a book sitting under the blackthorn.

I don't have raised beds as such but am using three bath tubs for the same purpose, two indoors one outdoors and a fourth one trying to be a pond.

Tubs: one thick layer of wood shavings at the bottom, a layer of cheap compost bought in a nearby garden centre, on top a thicker layer of top soil kindly donated by a bloke who, having got himself a plot, brought several dozen black cloth bags full of soil which has perlite in it. Excellent stuff.

Two such 'beds' in the greenhouse, growing: pinto beans, white beans, two butter beans and two black beans, cauliflower, lettuce, carrots, tomato and onions. All unevenly distributed in said tubs.

Outside tub planned to grow spuds - didn't work out as the thing is metal and fully exposed, so the few days of sunshine probably cooked the roots; a few tomatoes, growing with difficulty, a handful of onion and carrot seeds spread liberally.

One olive tree in a pot, donated, had some olives last year, this year has a huge number of tiny olives, growing. Also a small lemon tree which I have had for a decade, doesn't grow much. earlier this year it died, the few leaves turned half white and dropped. I thought it had had it, took it to the plot (was in the flat in a pot) placed it in a corner, watered and left it at it. A month later it is growing again! YAY!

And to finish, outside, one pear tree full of little pears, one crab apple, another apple of some sort, one unknown tree and a hazelnut.

So far so good.

Oh! also strawberries, broad beans, garlic and leeks!
