I didn’t go to the #AllotmentGarden for 10 days because the weather was shit and I was busy. Came back to two of my veggie beds being absolutely overgrown with goosefoot (they’re new beds from this year so it’s probably because the seeds enjoyed being disturbed) and the horseradish poking up in new and exciting (not) spots.
Two hours of work today helped a bit though, but I’m happy I will have more time to get it under control again over the next few weeks 😅
Went to the #allotment #garden today after a week away (travel + work kept me busy).
Despite the current drought-like conditions, things are growing nicely, and the weather even looks nice enough for me to risk planting my tomatoes down there tomorrow!
Took a picture of today’s harvest: a lot of rhubarb, 15 radishes, some ramson and sorrel, and some lilacs because I love the smell!
This day has been 13 months in the making! The #AllotmentGarden is now fully prepped for a full growing season!
When I took over the #garden in late March ‘24 it was extremely unkept and overgrown. I’ve spent countless hours digging through everything, moving berry and rose bushes, removing probably 100+kg of horseradish, as well as ground elder, bindweed and other unwanted things… but now I can finally go into more maintenance mode (even if I will be fighting horseradish for years to come 😥)
Woke up early and decided to head to the #garden to water (as we can water with a hose between 6pm and 10am) and then decided to do a few hours of work.
Got the second to last bed dug through, weeded (horseradish, ground elder and bind weed as usual), leveled, and prepped for my tomatoes.
Only one more bed to go before I have a fully prepped garden which will mostly be maintenance only! Can’t wait!
