A small but rewarding harvest today: Purple Haze carrots (Daucus carota) fresh from the garden. While the yield wasn't abundant and the roots stayed modest in size, their flavor more than made up for it.
Growing your own vegetables, even in small quantities, connects you to the seasons and reminds you of the patience gardening requires. Not every harvest is abundant, but each one is valuable.
Een kleine maar waardevolle oogst vandaag: Purple Haze wortels (Daucus carota) vers uit de tuin. Hoewel de opbrengst niet overvloedig was en de wortels bescheiden van formaat bleven, werd dat ruimschoots goedgemaakt door hun smaak.
Je eigen groenten kweken, zelfs in kleine hoeveelheden, verbindt je met de seizoenen en herinnert je aan het geduld dat tuinieren vereist. Niet elke oogst is overvloedig, maar elke oogst is waardevol.

I got several beds shaped and sown with winter cover crop but couldn’t get them all covered with row cover. ( Weather, darkness.) The last one, I just raked the seed in as best I could, but the downpour was revealing it again as I left…

It’s an _experiment_! I don’t know how much row cover improves the cover crop stand; maybe this will make it obvious!
