The source code of a major AI coding tool leaked. The code was written using the tool itself and is extremely poor quality.
AI is being pushed in schools using the claim that it is the "future of programming". But anyone who can program can see how generative AI is completely unsuitable for the task.

To pick a nit: No, they don't *forget* that the future belongs to us all. They would never, ever accept that as a premise. They believe the future belongs to THEM & that the rest of the world's billions of living humans exist for their [in]convenience.

This is what an #aipause would look like, by the way, which is why I argue against it. The surveilance apparatus to keep individuals and non-governmental organizations from training new models would have to dwarf already overwhelmingly invasive corp and gov spying regimes.
She’s right, though, that this isn’t about money, but about status and power. If money brings status and power, great, but the money isn’t the end in itself.
The game is the game, money is just how most people keep score.
Allyn [re the "AI pause" letter]: Hinton refused to sign the letter, because it didn't make sense to him.
Hinton: The research will happen in China if it doesn't happen here. Because there's so many benefits of these things. Such huge increases in productivity.
