As of today, I am now a happy and proud member of the NJCB (New Jersey Council of the Blind), which also makes me a member of the ACB (American Council of the Blind)! I am truly excited and am looking forward to meeting my peers and getting to know them. It is also my sincere hope that we can create a chapter in northern New Jersey, since none exists, and the blind community has very little in the way of anything here. Perhaps, we can start with phone and virtual calls and then find a physical space where we can meet. Finally, even though I am only forty-two, I have been a member of AARP (American Association of Retired Persons) for two years and love it. You don't need to be retired or working to join, it's just their name. It's full of benefits, classes, quizzes, and all sorts of wonderful things. Since the ACB already has a committee for older blind persons, I would love to see the two organisations working together. I adore seniors, which is part of why I joined NJCB. I always say I'm not an activist or an advocate, and that is true in the traditional sense. But that doesn't mean I can't work to bring people together and to help the community I love. If you are or know an ACB member, please contact me. I would like to find my peers, be they in New Jersey or not.
Haven't seen it yet but "Is This Thing On?" is a well rated movie directed by #BradleyCooper.
It hasn't received much recognition at the major awards ceremonies this year but #LauraDern won the #AARP's "Movies For Grown Ups" Best Actress Award.
I plan to watch it online somewhere on the Net where it soon should show up for free.
It's been a while since I've gotten a love letter from #AARP. Was hoping they'd forgotten about me. GUESS NOT.
Jerks.
#AARP's annual movie awards show -- "Movies For Grown Ups"-- aired tonight.
I saw most but not all of the nominees & the winners. The notable movie winners are:
Best Picture -- Hamnet
Best Director -- Guillermo del Toro (Frankenstein)
Best Actor -- George Clooney (Jay Kelly)
Best Actress -- Laura Dern (Is This Thing On?)
Best Supporting Actor -- Delroy Lindo (Sinners)
Best Supporting Actress -- Regina Hall (One Battle After Another)
I saw & really like Hamnet, Frankenstein & Sinners. Wasn't a big fan of "One Battle" & didn't see "This Thing" or "Jay Kelly" but plan to watch them as soon as I can.
You can find a complete list of the nominees & winners here:

HIGHER PRICES COMING
Mastodon Post
Rising prices on eleven products just scratches the surface. These are products AARP chose to alert members about. Inflation is one of many parts of the economy that Trump and Republicans are managing very poorly. Trump promised he would bring down prices. This is another area where he has betrayed voters.
