The 1990 Total Recall is one of my favorite movies, and I didn't know David Cronenberg was the original director for it and created the character of Kuato and all the mutants (although it makes perfect sense). The puppet itself was created by Rob Bottin.

How Total Recall Created Sci-Fi Mutant Kuato Without An Ounce Of CGI - SlashFilm

Total Recall's mutant rebel Kuato is one of many impressive non-CGI effects that Rob Bottin provided for Paul Verhoeven's sci-fi film.

The Thirteenth Floor (1999) was a great concept but the execution (the acting and dialogue) weren't the greatest - and this is coming from me, who watches and doesn't mind a lot of B movies. This one could really do with a modern remake. Simulation etc type stuff. I can just imagine this remade now, but so much better 😂

Figured it was finally time to watch Audition (オーディション, 1999) today. Always meant to.

Audition (1999)

Seven years after the death of his wife, widower Shigeharu seeks advice on how to find a new wife from a colleague. Taking advantage of their position as a film company, they stage an audition. Interviewing a series of women, Shigeharu is enchanted by the quiet Asami. But soon things take a twisted turn as Asami isn’t what she seems to be.

Considered a lot of flicks I haven't checked out to take in today, both older and newer, but settled on 1997's 'The Relic'. I always want weird monstery creature features over anything else, and this sounds like it is. And it has Tom Sizemore (RIP).

The Relic (1997)

A homicide detective teams up with an evolutionary biologist to hunt a giant creature that is killing people in a Chicago museum.

We were talking at chez nous about the 90s film, Scent of a Woman this week and lo and behold it’s on Netflix. I only saw it when it came out in the cinema and had totally forgotten it’s over 2 hours 30 minutes in length.

You Can't Make This Stuff Up ...

Not only because this image looks like how it feels to be living in the world lately, but also because 31 years ago today (February 3) in 1994, In the Mouth of Madness was released in USA theaters.
