Lonesome Dove is so good, I can't believe it has taken me this deep into my life to watch it despite three of my parents all being big fans. I'm glad I own it on DVD.

Succeeds as both immersive procedural thriller and powerful structural polemic. It feels qualitatively different from the start, its empathy for victims and lack of interest in the history or emotional state of the perpetrator elevating it above more conventional (because male) series and films on the subject of rape. Performances are outstanding, with terrific chemistry between Collette and Wever, and Dever capturing a difficult complexity. Highly recommended.
Wanted to justify the $3 I spent on Howdy this month, so finally getting around to watching the Mick Garris directed miniseries version of The Shining from 1997. I adore Mick and his version of The Stand, so it has long been on my To Watch list, but figured I'd work on it over the next few days
