JK (he/ him)My knowledge of cinema grammar is a bit lacking, but even I can see that both #DoTheRightThing & #BoyzNTheHood revel in & play with classic formalism while reinventing it; I absolutely adore storytelling that's this audacious. It makes you wonder how much other great stuff I'm missing out on.
I'm so embarrassed I never watched #BoyzNTheHood until last year, despite one of my friends having nagged me for the best part of 20 years, so it was lovely to see it again relatively so soon at the cinema this week. What an incredible cast and storytelling that felt fresh and yet really classic too.
