Language does something beyond description. When we name a feeling, we give ourselves permission to have it. When there's no word for something, the feeling doesn't disappear. It just has nowhere to land, and tends to get folded away quietly without much ceremony. There is a feeling that belongs here, one that many parents of adult children carry even if they couldn't tell you what to call it. It arrives in ordinary moments: watching a grown child figure something out without calling to ask, noticing they make plans that don't include you, hearing confidence in their voice as they describe

Unser lustiges Problem: Normalerweise ist Einkaufen hier beinahe jederzeit möglich, aber schon gestern waren die lokalen Discounter Mittags zu und nicht nur wir Touristen rannten überrascht gegen verschlossene Türen 😂
Mal sehen, ob wir heute einen finden, um nicht noch ein (teures) Hotel-Frühstück buchen zu müssen.

It seems the entire world must be 3D printing... I've been checking the Bambu Labs store daily for stocks of PETG HF for over a month and they are out of stock of everything except blue.

I looked two days ago and they had more colours... but I was on my phone. By the time I'd gotten to my desk and looked on my PC, they were out of stock again.

Now looking at 3rd party filament (Elegoo, but UK suitable suggestions accepted) ... but I need to use it in my AMS and Bambu are even out of stock of their reusable filament spools!!! Do the self-printed ones hold up to use in a filament dryer?

Staved off disaster, roasted two batches of coffee instead of one, so it's not a desperate race mid week to roast more.

Label on coffee: "do not leave your coffee roaster unattended, risk of fire"

What we don't realize is that most of the rest of the world also has #1stworldproblems . They aren't the #impoverished areas we believe them to be. We need to stop with the use of 1st and third world, neither exist because they had to do with if you were aligned with the #US , The #USSR or neutral. We should instead call it what I coin as 1%st, 10%st world problems and so on. I'm barely in the 11%st of the world. That said even if you make less, if you have a good social safety net, you don't need to be in that range to have a healthy happy life.

Yesterday was momentous - we finally got a fully working kitchen: newly installed worktop, hob, kitchen sink, dishwasher and a fancy boiling water tap to replace a kettle. However in true #1stWorldProblems style it’s thrown my morning routine right off kilter. As the kettle boils I usually empty the dishwasher. Now that slot no longer exists I’m going to have to find a new routine. And which cupboard are the mugs in and which cupboard is the tea in again..?
It’s all a bit much at 6:30am 🤯

I wonder if it's just my thing, or some more people'd wish for better "tagging" & "liking" system here in #fediverse / Mastodon. I always need to think hard, maybe overthink #1stworldproblems, should I add to favorites ("like"), boost or bookmark. Eventually, I think I resort to boosting when I think sth might be interesting or funny for others too; bookmark things I see as interesting, but unlikely for others to be curious about. But this strategy is full of flaws. What if it's both? 1/2

Absolutely chilly for SoCal outside right now... 51.9F. But an incoming heatwave. But, no one else wants the house freezing cold... I'd be up with totally venting the house down to sweater temperatures in preparation for this probably record breaking heatwave for a bit of thermal mass. . #1stworldproblems #CAwx #heatwave

First World Problems Dept.

My 13-year old satellite TV box just died. #DirectTV is shipping out a replacement that will arrive "..in 3 business days..." That's Wednesday in real time.

So, I've lost some stuff I recorded. But that's not a great loss.
If I want to watch IndyCar, I have to put up with the commercials. Pass.
Will miss Antiques Roadshow and Curse Of Oak Island.
