Hi #Astrodon πŸ€—,
time for my #introduction. My name is Marie-Luise Steinmeyer. I'm a third (and last) year #phd Student at the Globe Institute, University of Copenhagen. My research focuses on the link between formation and composition of rocky #planets. Recently I have also become interested in the first atmospheres of planets 🌏.
Women astronomers!!! Who else should be on that poster? Or the next? I get to see it many times a day as it hangs right outside my office at #STScI

Mastodon will update to 4.0 soon! Here are the most exciting new features (in addition to fixes & changes):

Unsure which #Mastodon server to join for a start? Handy list: https://fediverse.party/en/portal/servers/ #TwitterMigration #ScienceMastodon
Hello #ScienceMastodon #Astrodon #TwitterMigration πŸ€Έβ€β™€οΈ! I’m an astrophysicist and science communicator working at the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA). I write about (and sometimes even research) #exoplanets & #SolarSystem #planets and hijack memes to broadcast that Earth-sized = Venus-sized =/= planet with a Starbucks. I'm also passionate about #VirtualReality #VR as a way of creating online spaces that can rival in-person events, and I have a cat and periodically rescue other mogs.

🌌 New themed servers in #Fediverse network (1/3):

β€’ https://astrodon.social - for anyone interested in #astronomy, #astrophysics, #astrophotography, and adjacent sciences

β€’ https://sciences.social - for social #scientists

β€’ https://mstdn.science - for #microbiologists, scientists in general, and #science enthusiasts

β€’ https://earthlings.social - for all precious earthlings

β€’ https://swiss.social - #Switzerland

#fediworld

Astrodon - The Astro Community

A Mastodon community server for anyone interested in astronomy, astrophysics, astrophotography, and adjacent sciences.

Mastodon hosted on astrodon.social

There were some rate limit errors during my #migration to the home of #astrodon & I lost ~25% of my followers, so I'm reposting an #introduction in the hopes they find their way back to me!

I'm Erin! An astrophysicist that studies atmospheres of planets outside our solar system (#exoplanets) using telescopes & climate models πŸͺ πŸ”

When I'm not working on #JWST data, I'm #knitting, #reading, watching Star Trek, or making #stickers

I also love to share #science with others! #SpaceTalkTuesday πŸ––

If you have just joined Mastodon and it all seems a bit, we'll, quiet...
That's how it works. If you want more on your timeline follow more people. See who they follow, follow them, use hashtags to find stuff you're interested in and follow that.
Unlike twitter, Mastodon won't push content at you, it won't promote tweets or guess that, because you like this thing, you probably like that thing.
It's up to you. Try mining my follows for starters, there's good people there.
A more technical #introduction for #Astrodon folk. I'm a senior lecturer in #physics and #astronomy at the #university of #Manchester, based at #jodrellbank. I work on the detection of cool #exoplanets using #microlensing. I also lead a #transmission #spectroscopy survey of exoplanet #atmospheres called SPEARNET. Additionally, I've used ideas from #gametheory to develop smart #SETI strategies. Currently deputy lead of #ESA @ec_euclid exoplanet science working group. Lead from next March.
