I’m very weatherbeaten after a windy walk. It looks balmy in the photos, but it was blowing a hoolie. I saw at least three curlews, but didn’t manage to surpass my last curlew shot.

Last week I mentioned that I had some ladybird news, so here it is! The tree I planted last year is doing amazingly and to my utter delight, I discovered that the ladybirds are also really into it. Like... REALLY into it.

(there's ladybirds having sex all over this tree, is what I'm saying)

I didn't take a picture of the mating ladybirds for their own privacy but here is a single ladybird just hanging out on the fronds, hopefully thinking of laying eggs. I am going to be so happy if we get dozens of baby ladybirds in a month or so 🥰

I have so much time for this; it is as pleasant as a flower in the buttonhole of one's suit, and equally deserving of (cycling) fashion's attention. I feel that bicycle races like the Brompton World Championships are where this sort of pleasentness, this restrained salute to the dazzling superiority of nature, could shine.
