This Mad Max-y looking #vintagecomputer would fit well in a dystopian world. Am I right?

Computers came in all shapes and sizes. This #Dolch VPAC 386 with Back PAC add-on is a portable cube complete with gas plasma display. Used as a network sniffer, it needed extra slots. Sadly, cards gone.

It’s been a long time since the last #RetroBattlestations contest (due to reasons), but I can't let #PortableWeek just fade away! So announcing the 10th annual Portable Week contest on RetroBattlestations! Hopefully the reddit post gets plenty of updoots and awesome entries to fuel my energy and keep things rolling!

Another favourite of mine (I have many) is the BeBox from Be Inc running BeOS. This runs dual PowerPC 603e 133Mhz CPUs complete with "Blinkenlights". It was between Jean-Louis Gassée's BeOS and Steve Jobs' NeXTSTEP OS to shape Apple's future, at one point. Jobs won. Oh what could have BEen...
If you looked up "cute computer" you might find the XYZ Electronics Micro-portable computer. This Z80 based computer runs CP/M and used Sony's new 3.5" floppy drive with manual shutter floppies. Shown here, it's running the game Zork. While it kinda looks like a Mac, this was from 1983.
If there are any #Amiga #Unix fans, here I have both Amiga 2500UX and Amiga 3000UX computers running Amiga Unix or #Amix. There are not a lot of these left out there.
On November 20, 1985 (39 years ago today), Microsoft #Windows 1.0 was released. In fact, it was version 1.01 (left). Windows 1.02 (middle) released for the European market (first non-English) on May 14, 1986. Windows 1.03 (right), a more Internationalized version, was released on August 21, 1986 to replace 1.01 and 1.02
Some time back, I managed to land the 100,000th #trs80 Model 1 computer. This chrome version was originally presented to Bernie Appel, VP of Computer Marketing at #Tandy / #RadioShack. More details on what I could piece together on it's history here: https://vintagecomputer.ca/trs-80-m1-100k-computer/

#Commodore64 computers were often used in the classroom but they were small enough to "walk away" if teachers weren't careful. Commodore's solution? Jam the C64 into a PET case. Enter the #Commodore Educator 64. While the screen is greyscale, it had a headphone jack for that lovely SID music.

If you ever make your own IDC ribbon cables, I could not recommend the IDC crimp tool enough. I used to use a vice and other barberic techniques but this tool is a God-send.

This is a 20 pin MFM drive cable I am making for testing a Hyperdrive MFM drive outside of the Macintosh Hyperdrive unit.

For you #Atari fans, here's a beautiful yet heavy Atari STacy 4. You won't find games on here. This has Steinberg Cubase on it and was exclusively used for music production. It was a market that this STacy fit into perfectly at the time because of it's capability combined with its portability.
