It was me and my wife's first try #painting #miniatures, they came out well! These are our starting characters for #Frosthaven, the banner spear and the geminate. Haven't done the wash step yet, worried about messing things up haha. It was a lot of fun and not as frustrating as I thought it might be.

Finished Diablo II: Resurrected, playing a Druid.
I'm a bit late to the party, but what a great game. I've played many, many clones and games that have expanded this genre, but it didn't prepare me for how addicting the core loop could be on this specific iteration. I can see why for many, this was their favorite - both in the series, and the genre.

I'll add that I wasn't expecting the switch controls to work so well for a game that was so clearly designed for a mouse.

I just loved roaming the random dungeons with my 20 strong army of various animals, spirits, and hirelings, facerolling most things in my way - with the ocassional troublesome elite or boss. Fighting the titular Diablo gave me the most deaths, which seems appropriate.

Worth a try even if you may have bounced off of other arpgs.

First game finished!

Final Fantasy III - 3D by SquareEnix and Matrix software

Here we have Square's first take on the jrpg job system, where characters can train one class, and switch to a different one, retaining some features that were learned. It's interesting, but for a system meant to feel open, I had a sense the game always wanted me to have a narrow set of jobs.

(Dragon quest 3 by the way already had a job system 2 years earlier, in I think a better game.)

The story is standard, if sometimes charming. The 3D remake upped the cutscenes a bit but still mostly forgetable.

What really brought the game down was the last section. Nearly 50% of my ~24 hour playtime was spent grinding to get through a 3 dungeon 6 boss stretch which only has one chance to save (but if you want to rest or restock you have to start over).

I hope there aren't too many similar stretches in the later games.

Overal I'd give it a 2.5/5, and one of the series to skip if only playing the "good" ones.

Doing some #GameDev prototyping. My first play around with #Godot4. In this game, you draw a path with the right mouse button for your mech to follow, and then can use the left mouse button to shoot at your mouse cursor. (I can also hopefully adapt it somehow to mobile)

Any ideas about what mechanics I can throw into this game with these controls? I'm thinking of things like a minefield you have to carefully navigate, and AI that you learn what patterns are good to avoid their shots.

👎Skip/wait

This is a #Adventure game in an appealing, if familiar cyberpunk world. The atmosphere and sound design are on point. The 1st person scenes, are full of layered elements some with a cool 3d effect. It sells a dystopian world where augmented reality colors everything with nothing firm to hold onto. It's at once familiar and alien.

All of this effort is let down by the gameplay. I love adventure games and appreciate the Snatcher influence here. However, progress feels very random and kills pacing. When stuck, clicking around the environments I'd already fully examined to try to remember how to get to a specific scene was tedious. Would benefit from a better map or hint system. And clearer click spots.

After all of this trial and error, waiting for the interesting part of the story to start, it ends on a huge cliffhanger. No sequel yet, and it's been 8 years! I'd play the next game if it was improved.

👍👍Excellent!

🤔 Storytelling a bit eh; too much dialogue in some parts, and so slowly spoken. Completely silent would have been stronger

⛰️ You will feel these worlds come to life with the lush environments and full soundscapes

⚖️ Enjoyed the manual magic-based save system in game 1 which provided a fun risk vs reward system. Sad to see game 2 go more traditional

⚖️ Enjoyed the automatic attack in game 1 which pushed focus on maneuverability. Ok with more traditional weapons in 2, movement still important

🤔 Would like to see a similar game take out combat entirely

🗺 Maps and mechanics very engaging and unique

📈 Ability unlocks exciting throughout. Game 1 skill tree felt more impactful, but variety nicer in 2

⚡️As you master getting around the world, you feel like a flying god!

Sequel please!

Five hours later It's finally all back in the box. "Now your box is organzed!" they said.

I love how after all of the detailed organization instructions they provided, the last step is just "pile all the terrain and baggies on to and see if the top of the box fits."

#Frosthaven after punching everything out and splaying the contents of the box. You might be better off listing what's not there.

(Chips not included)

Nearly broke my back lifting this up to the table.
