Announcing sandogasa (why? it's a Japanese straw hat often associated with post-apocalyptic robots) - a collection of tools and libraries for @fedora packaging workflows.

Announcing Sandogasa, a set of Rust crates to help with Fedora packaging workflows

Caveat lector This post discusses tools reluctantly written with AI assistance. If you don’t entertain using them under any circumstance, and think even reading about them legally compromise your ability to reimplement them yourselves, stop reading now I’ve spent the past few weeks of having to use LLMs to scratch some long-standing itches that, unfortunately, no one in the community has had the time to solve programmatically. fedora-cve-triage It started off with fedora-cve-triage, written to address the issue that a lot of CVE bugs filed against Fedora packages are badly attributed, and there is a lack of automation for handling issues filed against CVEs that have been addressed in a software update but failed to reference said issue.

what do you mean #elonmusk did a #nazi salute on live tv at the #unitedstates presidential inauguration twice and is now erasing the evidence off the internet by replacing the footage with the crowd cheering instead?

would be a shame if people reblogged this, wouldn’t it?

Technology Short Take 190 - Scott's Weblog - The weblog of an IT pro focusing on cloud computing, Kubernetes, Linux, containers, and networking

Welcome to Technology Short Take #190! This is the first Tech Short Take of 2026, and it has been nearly three months (wow!) since the last one. I can’t argue that I fell off the blogging bandwagon over the end of 2025 and early 2026. I won’t get into all the reasons why (if you’re interested then feel free to reach out and I’ll fill you in). Enough about me—let’s get to the technical content! Here’s hoping you find something useful.

Please enter a human reason when onboarding (due to AI slop we must do that).

Do join and boost please. 🙏🏻

I don't often share Phoronix articles, but this one I will:

Systemd founder and lead developer Lennart Poettering announced the creation of a new company called Amutable

I was wondering when a reporter would uncover this.

So BitLocker is super secure, right? Well... BitLocker recovery keys are backed up to Microsoft's Cloud - and they give them out to law enforcement on request. Using the BitLocker recovery key, you can just unlock the device without a PIN etc.

Microsoft Gave FBI BitLocker Encryption Keys, Exposing Privacy Flaw

The tech giant said providing encryption keys was a standard response to a court order. But companies like Apple and Meta set up their systems so such a privacy violation isn’t possible.

Found my old S100 graphics card I got when I was 11. 128x128 resolution (64x64 if you wanted 16 colors). Made a lot of games with this in Z80 asm. I wrote a RPG game before I knew what RPG games were. Sending my old CP/M floppies to @vhamm to see if he get the data off them. I'm sure there is game design gold in there.

We've just finished moving Bluefin and Aurora to a shared OCI container instead of using RPM packages for all of it, now you can do crazy stuff like Ubuntu-based Bluefin with the Bootcrew images if you want to :P Who would've though that not relying on packages would be a good idea, huh!
