@ShinIce @tdose @wynke @fosdem
Look, I'm not complaining!
Please, no need to get defensive! I'm well aware that it's all volunteer work, so I am truly grateful for all you do, and for the fact that I, as a #vegan, can get a decent lunch.
However...
I would hope, that the free and open source software community would care about our planet. And animal cruelty feasts are not helping.
What I said is how happy and grateful I am with how the @tdose volunteers made an amazing shift here.
They didn't do what was necessary, they went waaay beyond. 50% #vegetarian, 40% #vegan. If you have any compassion for animals, or our planet, that must inspire you?
I'm just hoping that there's some #fosdem volunteer somewhere out there who finds this inspiring, and decides to follow suit.
Fascinating that @amd advises #FOSS leaders who come to complex & nuanced initial conclusions that they took 4 yrs of study to become morally & ethically sure about that they “should have stayed quiet”.
I never stay quiet once I believe an important issue in FOSS demands nuanced exploration.
It's why I co-keynoted #FOSDEM about *using* proprietary software

Leaders who keep their true opinions about relevant policy matters are nasty & sneaky politicians. I won't be one.
@patrislav @bert_hubert That would be almost as weird as having an open source conference sponsored by Google
We launched the Sovereign Tech Challenge (“Contribute Back”) in my first month, took the #SovereignTechFellowship from concept to pilot, to now 14 new fellows, and just last month brought the #SovereignTechStandards into the world.
Last year I came up with and developed a talk called “Open Source is a Sewer,” previewing it at #FOSSBackstage before giving it at #MonkiGras (thanks @redmonk!) and @lfeurope's #OpenSourceSummit Europe. The premise: open digital infrastructure deserves the same treatment as physical infrastructure, like water and sewage systems, something governments are expected to build and maintain quietly in the background. It's not just a provocative title!
Somewhere along the way, this stopped feeling only like a job and also like being part of a community. A global group of people who care, often invisibly, about the infrastructure holding up the digital world. We see each other at events like #FOSDEM, and I'm looking forward to #UNOpenSourceWeek in a few days. 2/3
@gdc So friggin' awesome @adelfaure
Fwiw, I did a #fosdem talk with Cowsay in #ascii

I never revealed it but the entire talk's storyline parallels the real adventures of Shackleton.
[Перевод] Автоматизация SBOM в большом legacy-проекте: опыт LibreOffice и Collabora Online
Эта статья – адаптация доклада "LibreOffice and Collabora Online – how we managed to automate SBOM generation for a large legacy project", с которым Торстен Беренц выступил на конференции в 2026 году. Специально для вас мы перевели выступление и превратили его в статью, оригинал доклада на английском языке – по ссылке .
