Folks have mentioned that Twitter is an extremely important space for sharing #protest news across the world and as a result we should keep preserving it despite the takeover.

I get it, I am #Iranian, I have relied heavily on twitter for news sharing re protests in #Iran over the years.

But what you are missing is that those same activists and protesters are MOST vulnerable to the new Twitter regime. Misinformation campaigns will be easy, and #Putin/#China/Islamic republic will use it.

FYI: There's an #Indigenous people server now as of last week, indg.club.

Big thanks to @roag505. And, @aerynlynne made new #emojis.

#MASTODONTIPS HUGE THREAD!

For those that joined #Mastodon and grabbed the first server they could find but would prefer to #migrate to a different one, I created a short guide on how to do this quickly and easily.
It also allows you to easily move any followers across to your new profile and leaves a redirection on your old profile for those that find it. 😁👍

And be sure to check out the threaded replies for more tips. I will continue to add more. 👍🏼

How To Easily Migrate your Mastodon Account to Another Server without losing your Followers

YouTube
superbly effective, and chilling, 2min piece of media #hacktivism from @bubbaprog @Deadspin, 2018, showing news anchors at dozens of TV stations across US owned by nation's largest broadcaster #SinclairMedia giving identical speech about fake news & bias
i might have my criticisms of mastodon, but the founder of post is out here pretending “net worth” is a protected category to signal you can’t make fun of billionaires on his a16z-funded twitter alternative
@taylorlorenz Post News just smells off to me. From the fact that all of its early promoters appear to come from a small group of media Twitter users to the fact that they ask for your LinkedIn profile on their waitlist form.
@JoParkerBear Yeah, I didn't love the pyramid scheme feel to it (invite 5 friends & you'll get bumped up the queue)... & then it looks like a pay-to-be-seen + pay-to-read setup which is only really going to make 1 party wealthy...
Notable that Marc Andreessen backed Elon’s Twitter takeover and is now also backing Post.news, Twitter’s main competitor outside Mastodon. Once again, you think you’re given a choice but the rich get richer either path you take!

“To the extent that people remain active on Twitter, they preserve the viability of Musk’s gambit. The illusory sense of community that still lingers on the platform is one of Musk’s most significant assets. No matter which side prevails, the true victor in any war is the person selling weapons to both sides.”

Why I Quit Elon Musk’s Twitter

Jelani Cobb writes about his recent decision to quit Elon Musk’s Twitter, a social-media platform that once represented the new frontier of digital democracy.
