You can literally describe it in one sentence. A rail gun in which the projectile is fixed to the rails. Simplified - a current conductor in the shape of the Cyrillic letter "П".

The resultant of the two Lorentz forces in the projectile (or crossbar in “П”) pushes the structure forward, and the counter-forces (Lorentz too), which acting on the rails, push them away from each other, rather than pulling the structure backward.
