Il Tempo: Il Golfo chiede aiuto a Kiev: c'è l'accordo tra Arabia e Ucraina sulla difesa
Il presidente ucraino Volodymyr Zelensky ha annunciato la firma di un accordo di cooperazione nel settore della difesa tra Kiev e l'Arabia Saudita, siglato tra i rispettivi ministeri prima di un incontro con il principe ereditario Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. In un messaggio pubblicato sui social, Zelensky ha sottolineato la disponibilità dell'Ucraina a condividere tecnologie ed esperienza, in particolare nei sistemi di difesa, con l'obiettivo di rafforzare la protezione delle vite umane.
Il capo dello Stato ha inoltre evidenziato come l'esperienza maturata da Kiev negli ultimi anni, tra attacchi con missili balistici e droni, rappresenti un elemento utile anche per gli altri Paesi del Golfo, oggi esposti a minacce simili per via della guerra tra Usa-Israele e l'Iran. Secondo Zelensky, la collaborazione potrebbe rivelarsi vantaggiosa per entrambe le parti, considerando anche le capacità saudite di interesse per l'Ucraina. Nel corso dei colloqui sono stati affrontati anche i principali dossier internazionali, dalla situazione in Medio Oriente ai rapporti tra Russia e Iran, fino agli sviluppi dei mercati energetici e a possibili forme di cooperazione nel settore.
Sul fronte del conflitto con Mosca, intanto, emergono segnali di possibili sviluppi sul tema dei prigionieri di guerra. Il capo dell'ufficio del presidente ucraino Kyrylo Budanov ha fatto sapere che sono in corso trattative con la Russia per un nuovo scambio, che potrebbe concretizzarsi in occasione della Pasqua. «I negoziati sono in corso e ci saranno nuovi scambi. Spero davvero che entro Pasqua assisteremo tutti a uno scambio importante», ha dichiarato, sottolineando che il lavoro per riportare a casa i militari ucraini detenuti prosegue senza interruzioni.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has announced the signing of a cooperation agreement in the defense sector between Kyiv and Saudi Arabia, signed between the respective ministries prior to a meeting with Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud. In a message posted on social media, Zelensky emphasized Ukraine’s willingness to share technologies and experience, particularly in defense systems, with the aim of strengthening the protection of human lives.
The head of state also highlighted that Kyiv’s experience over the past few years, including ballistic missile and drone attacks, represents a useful asset for other Gulf countries, currently exposed to similar threats due to the war between the US and Israel and Iran. According to Zelensky, the collaboration could be beneficial for both parties, considering also Saudi Arabia’s interest in Ukraine. During the talks, the main international dossiers were addressed, from the situation in the Middle East to relations between Russia and Iran, to developments in energy markets and possible forms of cooperation in the sector.
On the conflict front with Moscow, meanwhile, signs of possible developments regarding the issue of prisoners of war are emerging. The head of the Ukrainian president’s office, Kyrylo Budanov, announced that negotiations are underway with Russia for a new exchange, which could materialize on Easter. “Negotiations are ongoing and there will be new exchanges. I sincerely hope that by Easter we will all witness an important exchange,” he stated, emphasizing that the work to bring Ukrainian soldiers held as prisoners continues without interruption.
