Vivaldi Browser | Powerful, Personal and Private web browser

It’s a web browser. But fun. It comes with a bunch of clever features built-in. It’s super flexible and does not track you. Get the Vivaldi browser for desktop, mobile, and your car!

This is how my first computer looked like.

I remember it quite vividly the sitting under the Christmas Tree. The year was 1993 . #1990s kids will get it.

The model was called HC-91, #8bit CPU, 3.5Mhz, 64kb of RAM memory. It had a #basic interpreter installed and a few cassettes with #games .

Those computers were produced in #romania during #communism .

So many memories.

What is #gemini ? #gemini is a new internet protocol that:

- is heavier than #Gopher
- is lighter than the actual #web
- will not replace either
- takes user #privacy very serious

Why I love reading #gemini capsules (#anonymous blogs):

- they are text heavy
- they remind me of the old web (prior to 2000s)

If you want to explore the #gemini capsules from the web, you can use this #proxy that translates the #gemeni pages to #html :

https://proxy.vulpes.one/gemini/gemini.circumlunar.space

gemini.circumlunar.space - Gemini proxy

Windows NT - Visual Studio Marketplace

Extension for Visual Studio Code - A Windows NT/2000 theme for VS Code

In case you are using #gemini and you read #gemini capsules, @kensanata has an interesting post on getting started with #mastodon

In case you don't know what #gemini is, that's ok, it never was that popular. Think of it as a different internet, that needs a special browser to access the capsules. I personally use *deedum* on #android.

@bloor super shameless plug, but I wrote atuin in part to solve this problem! https://atuin.sh

It stores your shell history in a little SQLite with much more context 😊

I switched instances a few days ago, so I suppose it's time for a new #introduction!

I work on the Hebrew Bible as it was read and interpreted in antiquity and beyond –– by Jews, Christians, and others. Or, to be a bit polemical, you could say that I study the Hebrew Bible in its *known* contexts.

I'm particularly interested in the post-Second Temple afterlife of the Israelite priesthood. I also have pretty wide-ranging interests in the study of #Judaism in the pre-modern period, and especially how the study of Judaism in antiquity is shaped largely by medieval manuscripts.

I also love espresso, all things aviation, and making cringey puns. Oh, and pugs (we have two!).

"Games I played this year" 😺

πŸ”· Shardlight πŸ”·

is a beautiful post-apocalyptic adventure game by @wadjeteyegames and @GrundislavGames .

Is has a great story with a lot of twists & turns, wonderful graphics by @ThreeOhFour, and amazing voice acting. I loved it! πŸ’š

#selfpromotion I am somewhat an hobbyist programmer nowadays (I don't program at work), but I still consider #programming my main passion. In this regard I keep a #blog where I document my curiosities.

I mostly write about low level #c, #java, #algoritms, #datastructures, and #math (with a focus on #linearalgebra) . Some of my articles got some popularity on #hackernews which is always a nice thing.
