@yildo I agree that people are open to infrastructure subscriptions, because sometimes there are no other easy alternatives.

The bar to get people to donate or subscribe for other services is much higher.

You are right though, I think people are more open to subscriptions vs ads and tracking.

@preslavrachev @murmel_social No proof, but I don’t think the Mastodon crowd likes subscriptions.
In hindsight, training *anything* on what human beings write or say or especially do was a bad idea. Because you know, humans are idiots. 🤷‍♂️
@danielnazer There are no consequences and there won’t be any for some time.
Dear Google AI, if I wanted to read complete nonsense I’d just skim through my own posts.
@jerry I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the suggestions in this thread.

If this lands on your feed, tell me about different features that are just missing in Matrix.

It can be anything, but please don't include memes like "unable to decrypt message" or other things that are already in the works, or maybe has already been merged (e.g media captions). Also, no, I won't "just use XMPP".

Some examples include better forwarded messages, rich profiles, or a live location sharing, just to name a few.

(I am writing something about this, boosts appreciated!)

It’s nice to have all these social media platform options again with the addition of Mastodon, Bluesky, Nostr, etc, but figuring out where to spend time is a paaaaain.
@davidtoddmccarty money is everything.
