AI Developer Advocate

We are seeking an AI Developer Advocate to join our developer relations team at ING. This role is perfect for someone with a background in development (ideally backend) and strong experience using GenAI and related tooling. This can be either a developer advocate in the industry, or with experience working within ING. The team Our team is a mix of developer advocates and topic experts. We are small and will stay so. We are 3 developer advocates (backend, frontend and DevOps) working with a community manager to help ensure an optimal impact of our initiatives. We are also working with many other product teams, as well as content and education experts. We have a strong backing of the organization (When was the last time you saw a corporation CTO join local Meetups?) but our area is new in an existing, large organization. This means you are comfortable with uncertainty and creating your own path. Here’s how your typical week will look like: First and foremost, we want you to be and stay part of the community. You spend 20 to 40% of your time engineering (this does not only mean coding). We are responsible for the success of the adoption of AI inside the engineering organization. As such, the specific area you will dive in depending on the priorities and current roadmap, but you should know and feel the life of a developer at ING. The rest of the time, you take a bird’s eye view and find scalable ways to improve the general experience of developers and reduce friction around AI tooling. This may be by creating awareness, training others, creating opportunities, advocating for tooling, reporting feedback and more. Roles and responsibilities You advocate for all developers within ING, ensuring their needs and feedback are heard and addressed. You help generate adoption for GenAI tooling inside the company. You help drive the GenAi Community of practise and are part of some others depending on your specialization. You develop and deliver technical content, including blog posts, tutorials, and presentations, to engage and educate the developer community. Our GenAI tech stack is based on the Microsoft stack (GitHub Copilot, Spaces, Copilot CLI, Azure DevOps, ….). You are welcome to represent ING at industry events, meetups, and conferences to promote our engineering culture and attract top talent, but this is not your primary role. How to succeed We hire smart people like you for your potential. Our biggest expectation is that you’ll stay curious. Keep learning. Take on responsibility. In return, we’ll back you to develop into an even more awesome version of yourself. • Proven experience as a developer advocate or (backend) developer, preferably within ING. You either know the internal stack or have experience communicating with developers. • Practical experience using GenAI tooling, and proficiency with it. You know different tools, have experience trying different models, know the pros and cons of using GenAI for application development. • We have no requirement for years of experience, but you need to have the credibility of a senior engineer. • Strong technical background in backend development • Passion for community building and developer engagement. Rewards and benefits We want to make sure that it’s possible for you to strike the right balance between your career and your private life. Find out more about our employment conditions. The benefits of working with us at ING include: 25-28 vacation days depending on contract Pension scheme 13th month salary 8% Holiday payment Hybrid working Personal growth and challenging work with endless possibilities An informal working environment with innovative colleagues About us Curious about how ING empowers people and businesses to move forward? Senior Developer Relationship Engineer

Matrix, the open protocol for secure decentralised communications

Watching the number of #DevRel job offers crashing down, and the few remaining mostly being located in the US or even more focused on the Bay Area, I'm pretty happy I went back to engineering.

Given the relationship with #conferences, I wonder how the conference landscape will look like in one year

I've been experimenting with using the Claude browser extension to review Educates workshops. Rather than just checking the source files, it navigates the workshop in the browser like a real user, clicking through instructions and triggering actions. Turns out it gives more direct feedback than most human reviewers do.
