Make it make sense.

As a techie who understand the decentralized nature of the fediverse, the idea of "mastodon support" reaching out to users for account verification is a bit hilarious, ~but~ as a techie who understands the non-technical nature of most people, it is also a disappointingly devious scam

If you have no empathy or concern for people falling prey to such scammers, you can fuck right off

We have helped build the tech monoliths which trained users these patterns are normal. Tearing down the exploitative tech giants of yore for something better will require patience and understanding, not the same scorn and disdain that these giants have for us all as mere resources to be exploited

Anyway. When you see people hyperventilating that "B-b-but paying farm workers more would make food unaffordable!" please correct them up for me.

They might mean well? They might be trying to make a point about how much we owe the humble farm worker?

But that kind of talk is exactly how you get people believing "Gosh shucks golly. I guess we just need slavery to live."

Cut it out already.

Bluesky: Users verify their age by adding a payment method or uploading a photo ID.

Mastodon: Users verify their age by posting pictures of the vintage computer equipment in their homes.
@da_667 now i get why the elves at the end of lord of the rings were like 'fuckit, we're taking the boat to fuckoff-forever island, SEEYUH'

Saw a couple of these polyhedral fungi out on my mtb ride. Is #fungiverse a thing?
these are known as white basket fungi and are native to NZ and Australia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ileodictyon_cibarium

BRB making some white chocolate bark pretzels for the next mycological meet-up.

@bitshifter Wow! I've not seen one of those, I wonder which parts of Australia, because either I've been unlucky / unobservant / or they're not around my neck of the woods - any or multiple are possible!
@level98 yeah the Wikipedia page is not super informative on that front. There's an Australian PDF in the references which mentions "Fruits year-round in tropical and subtropical areas" and observations in QLD. I imagine places that aren't too dry.
@bitshifter Qld would explain why I haven't come across it... only visited there a few times.
@bitshifter Tūtae kehua! (Lit. “ghost poo”.)
@mpj17 @bitshifter If they didn't have a name, I was thinking "Buckyshrooms." But "Ghost Poo" is better. 👻
@Gorfram @mpj17 ghost poo is a great name 😂

@bitshifter wow, truth is stranger than fiction sometimes.

Looks like it's made by a high school math teacher out of crumpled aluminum foil and spray painted white.

Thx for sharing! BTW - what's the scale of the thing?

@ottaross it's about 10 cm length wise at a guess
@bitshifter We're all part of the mycelium /s
