I like to pronounce bouquet of flowers as ‘bucket of flowers’.
Am I one of those sad old men that go around trying to get the world to react to his dad jokes?

There was a joke I heard back around 2004. It goes like this:
Rumsfeld is giving President Bush a casualty report on allied forces in Afghanistan. He ends it with, "and two Brazilian solders were killed in action."
Bush goes pale and grips the desk for support. Rumsfeld is just about to call for a doctor when Bush asks him, "How many is a brazillion again?"
For some reason that joke popped into my head today, and it struck me that it would fall completely flat. Not because the current president isn't believably innumerate, but because the US having allies in a foreign war is no longer realistic and the thought that the current occupant of the oval office would give two shits about any war casualties is absurd.
Mass transit was an Everyman thing 60-80 years back.
It was cheap and convenient. No one had played the class warfare card making it seem dangerous.
I long for a day where owning an automobile is an option, not a necessity. It is already more of a burden than a privilege now, but there is no alternative. People pay a large chunk of their time and income for the ‘convenience’ of a congested commute.
cosign - But be sure to say “Hey assholes, two can play the asshole game!”
I wrote about Ask Jeeves, which was once one of the most interesting companies in search—but gave up right when it might have been able to fulfill its original vision.

‘The cost of compute is far beyond the costs of the employees’: Nvidia executive says right now AI is more expensive than paying human workers https://fortune.com/2026/04/28/nvidia-executive-cost-of-ai-is-greater-than-cost-of-employees/
Nobody is saying the loud part because they are too deep into AI now. They know teh only way to keep going is to pretend everything is working as promised. This is how the dot-com era happened & the upcoming AI bubble crash will too. They are disconnected from our reality. There is no cure for AI psychosis at CEO levels 😂
I’d like to remind people taking speaker calls in public that they can also hold their smartphone TO THEIR FACE LIKE A PHONE RECEIVER and not only will it keep the conversation private, but it is likely both you and the person on the other end will sound better to each other.
Just like a phone.
