A quick trip to the Royal Tasmanian Botanical Gardens. Perhaps a return in two weeks when the autumn leaves are thicker on the ground.

Another jewel of urban planning has emerged in nipaluna/Hobart.

The four former pubs of the Goulburn and Barrack St Junction, nipaluna.
In order of photos:
1: St Patrick. 1834-c1995
The only one of the four I have ever patronised as a pub. Then trading as the dearly departed, mad and wild Doghouse, the penultimate of many trading names.
2: The Peacock Tavern. 1846-1860.
3: The Black Swan Inn. 1822-1836.
4: The Dog and Partridge. 1834-1860.
*"When the Whaler 'Runnymede' berthed at New Wharf on the last day of February 1869, among its discharged crew was William Lanne (King Billy). He had 12 pound in his pocket and was headed for his familiar haunts, at the 'Dog and Partridge'. On this occasion Lanne was not well and he complained of stomach cramps for several days. He died at the hotel alone on 3rd March."
*Extract from "Pubs in Hobart" David Bryce & Col Jones, 1997.
The area was known as "St Giles". It was a lawless and roughouse district during the early whaling days of nipaluna/Hobart Town. Inter-pub brawls in the middle of the junction were apparently not unknown.
