My PCs fought some spiders in a cave and found some loot. One player showed up late and missed out on the initial (very minor) loot finding, and was determined to find something. So after the spiders they are now spelunking into a vast unexplored cave network.
Wasn't planning on building out a whole subterranean side quest this week but here we go 😅
Got to make my players nervous in my #Genesysrpg game last night. One rolled a despair and I got to give them the "Don't worry about it" as I typed up notes for the effect it will have in later sessions.
It was fun listening to them nervously whisper "he's typing a lot, that's not good"
OpenAI accusing DeepSeek, another AI model, of stealing their outputs to train their own model is the funniest thing I’ve read this year.
« This thing is stealing our work that we built by stealing other people’s work and paraphrasing it incorrectly ». Peak 2025.
Going from Debian to Kubuntu has been... fun. Yeah drivers are easier (thanks nvidia) but WHY does everything have to be snaps? And why do snaps have their own set of rules for apparmor? Why did it take me hours to figure out how to connect a serial usb device to the Chromium snap when the fix is a terminal command to allow the app to read usb AFTER I already set the correct permissions for the device??
On the plus side I learned a ton, so that's cool
If you are a worldbuilder nerd like me, and love to play RPGs in your own settings, I can't recommend Genesys enough. It is built intentionally to support custom settings, equipment, adversaries, etc. with flexible setting agnostic rules and stats. My campaign recently passed the 1 year mark, and I love the freedom to grow the world as the players live in it without getting bogged down adapting mechanics and making new stat blocks.
Ran a quick (~30min) adventure for my kids ad hoc using the Hero Kids rules for attack, armor, and health, and really nothing else. No character sheets, just some minis that look cool and we just decided on stats as they came up, no prep. Ended in fits of surprised laughter when the missing hunter made his way out of the giant snake they defeated, thanking them from saving him from digestion. Good day to be a dad
Just found out that the reason my webcam wasn't loading on my 3d printer was because when I moved it and hooked everything back up, I blindly plugged the usb webcam into the ethernet port of the raspberry pi (it is mounted with all the ports facing down so I didn't notice, and it fit well enough).
