David HoBack in 1985, Carl Sagan told Congress that continuing to burn fossil fuels will increase global temperature, cause climate change, melt glaciers and ice sheets, and cause sea level rise.
His solution: Fewer government subsidies for fossil fuels and use of renewable energy.

Using Kbin, I found a community that is actually hosted on a Lemmy instance, but I subscribed anyway, then found a post I wanted to comment on. In the comment, I wrote Markdown with a link to one of my Mastodon toots.
Kbin *automatically* created a Mastodon embed of the full toot right there! And over on the Lemmy instance, it was just basic HTML with the link based on the Markdown I'd written which is fine.

Also: each of those actions can address more than one goal. Cooling centers can also be literacy centers or health clinics. Weatherization's good when it's cold as well as hot. Same for heat pumps and renewables. All of it can create jobs and foster connection.
