WASHINGTON (ANP/DPA) - President Donald Trump van de Verenigde Staten heeft het Internationaal Olympisch Comité (IOC) gefeliciteerd met de beslissing van donderdag om transgender vrouwen uit te sluiten van deelname in de vrouwencategorie bij de Olympische Spelen van 2028 in Los Angeles. Alleen biologisch vrouwelijke atleten, van wie het geslacht wordt vastgesteld door middel van een eenmalige genetische screeningstest, komen in aanmerking om deel te nemen.

Das Internationale Olympische Komitee will mit Gentests das Geschlecht prüfen. Das ist falsch und gefährlich. Ein Gentest kann nicht zeigen, wer ein Mensch wirklich ist. Geschlecht ist mehr als Gene. Es geht um Identität und Leben. Dass Hamburg, mit SPD und Grünen dafür 18 Millionen Euro für die Bewerbung zahlen, ist ein Skandal. Das unterstützt einen LGBTQ+ feindlichen Kurs. Für mich ist klar: Olympia muss boykottiert werden!

A reminder to the #IOC that the phrase "biological males" is transphobic and not scientific or standard medical language. "Assigned Male At Birth" (AMAB) is the typically acceptable and ethical terminology that should be used, if you have to refer to someone's birth sex at all.
