All my work is set in the place I know best - Scotland. The sea, or a body of water EG a loch (lake to non-Scottish friends) always features too.
My characters mention places they’ve lived - NYC, Thailand, European countries- & they’ll be places I’ve stayed & know the smells & sounds of.
I love to travel/revisit places in my writing.

Hope it’s going well for you. Almost the end of November.
I’m happy with the shape of my story and hope to have a decent draft to play with. I hit 42,000 last night, so I’m on track.
It’s been up and down - one day I wrote 4,265 words, on another 565. I was happy either way.
