I popped into #kde after not having used it in forever. I still find it ugly and a bit messy, but I noticed two absolutely incredible quality-of-life things i wish #gnome had.

1st is the audio source menu. On gnome it has a few redundant options and the microphone and speakers are jumbled into one flat list. On kde it’s one option for each device and sorted nicely.

2nd is, I can control my monitor’s brightness? And even my keyboard buttons work? Why isn’t this in gnome I need this immediately

Was the #fosdem talk titled “Towards a Local-First #Linux Desktop with Modal, Reflection and #p2panda” recorded? I looked through the slides but I’m really interested in this subject and want to know what was said.

I still don’t understand why #linustechtips is allergic to #bazzite. Linus is so so so incredibly excited and impatient for #steamos, but I feel like what he wants is staring him in the face.

A bazzite LTT video would slap.

I love #bazzite and what its mission is, but man, sometimes I can tell it’s a relatively new project compared to something like fedora. lots of kinks to be worked out still. I feel like there’s always some issue i’m dealing with.

Still love it, and to be fair, at least #bazaar doesn’t take 20 years to do things. So there’s definitely upsides to be had. It’s just fast moving. Things are still being changed on a monthly basis

Today I experienced an example of why we need more designers in #foss.

I was using #bazaar on #bazzite and noticed the icons were missing from the search results. Well that’s incredibly inconvenient.

So I go into the issue tracker thinking it was a bug or something. No, they just removed icons from search for a technical reason. But from a design-first approach, it would be obvious that icons are needed in search results, and a technical solution would have to be worked on to make it possible

Oh and another issue just came up in the past few days: now it won’t suspend, I can only shut off. I swear it’s every month, a new issue comes along.

I think I’m experiencing the joys of young distros. #bazzite has had a new issue practically every month. One of which was *breaking the auto updater*, which absolutely cannot *ever* happen.

Also had it wake up from suspend to a black screen randomly and I had to reboot. I think that maybe went away.

Also have an issue where distrobox won’t update.

Ironically I think fedora is the more maintenance-free option. I’m actually hesitant to recommend Bazzite until I go a year without any issues

Game developers: if you treat your itch.io version as a second class citizen, or abandon it, you are not respectable.

If you use itch.io to market a demo for the game, then release it exclusively on steam, you deserve jail time.

I foolishly thought getting the fenders for my lectric xp lite would stop it from getting horrifically filthy.

I was wrong.

Is there anything else I can do? It cannot be getting this bad. The keyhole is covered in filth. The entire area around the pedals is painted with mud. It’s going to destroy my bike. #biketooter

Oh cool. #bazzite has stopped auto updating. It hasn’t updated in a month

I was hoping an update would fix the issue where sometimes I would wake from suspend and I would be met with a black screen, but I guess the chances of that are unlikely given this discovery
