Got a good amount of chores done today, so as a treat started testing a future project I recently got.
The power supply is bad (suspected based on the original owner's comments), but has a lot of potential.

Cleaning up an old TeleVideo terminal. Overall works well! I cleaned it up shortly after this pic and came out really nicely.
Tested of course with an @rc2014 board and a PS/2 keyboard 🙂

Been watching APRS traffic fly by, and tested transmit and that seems to work too
If using a 40 something year old Commodore 64, with a similar age TNC, might as well add a vintage VHF radio from that period 😊

Update on this! Was doing some local and location tests from the ground, and ability to get me out of my hole.
Bad news, the HT7530-1 regulator on the solar charger board failed and failed in a way to short solar voltage to the 3v rail...
Fortunately in bench testing, it still works and a cheap fix to replace as putting 3v on that bus causes everything to work again.
Thank goodness for BMS on these batteries.
It works! Just need to add/route antennas to the outside. Means a decent @meshtastic solar node with a 15w 5v solar cell, 20ah LiFe4PO setup for around $120 USD and a bit bigger than a legal sheet of paper.
Been a bit busy juggling projects with some people locally. Experimenting with Meshtastic a bit. I'm in a bit of a signal hole so putting up a node on a big hill not far from me. Found an interesting solar panel + mppt charger + 20ah LiFoPo4 battery pack with a ton of space inside on Amazon for "Solar cameras".
Also has regulated 5v and 3v rails.
Hoping to get this wired up with a RAK4631 and test it out

Got an AEA PK-232 off eBay for a reasonable price, and it works! Also got a USB to RS-232 DB25 adapter, fired up minicom, and was able to receive APRS data!
I may try to hit a local-ish packet station running JNOS.
