Hello #fediverse 👋 My name is Zhanna. I was born in Ukraine into a ukranian-russian family, spend more than half of my life in Germany. Now I live in Spain in Andalusia. I'm #newhere #neuhier #Новичок and looking forward to meeting new people.

For now I'm a full-time mother of two young people (4 and 5) and interested in #permaculture #permakultur #agroecology #agroforestry #freeeducation #nature #saveEarth #nocorporatebullshit blogpost of #charleseisenstein and I get almost nothing done during the day. Also I'm trying to learn Spanish without much success.

I would like to post some #PicturesOfTheDay from the mountains where I live now.

*My revised #introduction*

My name is Cindy. I am a book editor.

After living in NYC for two decades, I moved to Wisconsin in 2024 to become the caretaker of my grandparents' 100-acre farm, located in the Driftless Area. I spend most of my time fixing up the house there (a stone cottage built in 1860) and enjoying the peace and quiet that was nonexistent in NYC. I still ❤️ NYC, but I ❤️ Wisconsin too.

I am into all things handmade by a human: art, food, clothes, jewelry, pottery, woodworking.

Hello, just moved accounts from Fosstodon. Before that I was on mastodon.technology.

I'm a vegan, tree lover, and father of the most adorable little girl in the world. I live in southeastern Pennsylvania, and post a fair bit about gardening.
 I've been called "surprisingly handy" (by my spouse).

I'm also a software developer (mainly Rust) and have been a Linux user for quite some time. Death to big tech, especially so-called "AI".

Occasional USPol, though mostly via boosts.

I browsed through the new Victor Jara Archive website, and I really liked this collection of posters from events promoting human rights in the spirit of Victor Jara.

First harvest of rhubarb! This perennial is a standard plant in midwestern gardens. I typically cook it and add enough sugar to make a tangy-sweet sauce to put on cereal or eat with yogurt. (I like rhubarb pie, but I leave the baking to the experts 🙂)

Connecticut’s attorney general has sent a letter warning Avelo Airlines that it has jeopardized tax breaks and other local support by agreeing to conduct deportation flights for ICE.

ICE Air Has a New Contractor. This State Is Asking How It Will Protect the Detainees on Board.

A letter to the airline from Connecticut’s attorney general cited ProPublica’s reporting on ICE Air flight attendants, who said it was unclear how shackled detainees would get off a plane in an emergency.

I found the roadrunner while driving very slowly along the road (true to their name) first thing in the morning. They are pretty big so not too hard to spot, but the ones I’ve seen recently are quick to run away (true to their name). This one was a little wary but I approached very slowly. Took a few initial distant photos through the windshield but was at last able to creep up next to it and shoot out of my rolled down window. Nice morning!
And to complete the circle, I saw a coyote about an hour after I saw the roadrunner. Too late, bro.
@Jgbird aren't there two rabbits in the background as well ?
@Jgbird He's probably more interested in the bunny RIGHT BEHIND HIM.
@Jgbird
He would of had him if his ACME rocket powered roller skates hadn't malfunctioned!
@Jgbird wow, watch out for ACME traps along the road haha
@Jgbird nice capture! They blend so well with the background it’s hard to make one stand out this well.
@Jgbird
The plumage around their round eyes makes them look like they have huge human eyes!
@Jgbird were you hit by a falling anvil shortly after taking the shot?

@Jgbird Great pic! You can get even closer to roadrunners if they're hunting. 📷 Their predator focus is impressive!

"Chapparals" is how a lot of Texans refer to them and Dallas' 1st ABA 🏀 team was called the Chaparrals before eventually moving to San Antonio.

@Jgbird

Watched a roadrunner take on a diamondback in Saguaro Natl Park this morning. Tie and they walked/slid away. On video. Respect! I had no idea.

@TheEddieShow @Jgbird

For a second I thought you meant you were at the park this morning and didn't come by and say hi.

@billyjoebowers

Nah. In Arizona once, in January 1990. Drove I-40, in a hurry to get to Vegas from NM in a little convertible. Memorable for the high cross-winds that made it a challenge to stay on the road. Pulled over to put the top up!
