Graves unearthed in northern Greece contain bones widely believed to be from victims of the country's civil war in the late 1940s.
The Heuneburg on the Upper Danube was an Early Iron Age princely seat and is one of the most important archaeological sites in Central Europe. It's considered to be the oldest town north of the Alps, which in the 6th century BC covered an area of about 100 hectares. The architecture of its fortification was inspired by Mediterranean building techniques, it was built with air-dried mud bricks.
It has been suggested that Pyrene, the polis mentioned by Herodotus, is the Heuneburg.

In the previous post, the photo shows the wood ducks just after they landed on the pond. When they noticed us, they swam away along the shore and encountered an American Coot. At that point, they took flight. The coot just stayed in the water and kept its distance as we walked around the pond. I'm guessing the coot's partner was sitting on a nest somewhere along the shore under the willows.

As a journalist on the Fediverse with a Ghost site and newsletter, I don't need the adoption option, but I'd LOVE IT if more people signed up to my free newsletter.
Being niche and not being a mega Ghost success story like 404 or Molly W (both of whom I think are great) I can't really say that avoiding the big social media channels is a great plan for reach, but I do it anyway because it's what I believe in.
