Let's be clear. This is a car. Four wheels. It weighs 225 kg by itself and you can add up to 200 kg of cargo. That's not an electric bike, as the manufacturer claims it is. This is a small car that occupies and blocks the bike lane. This shouldn't exist. Us cyclists already have to deal with bad infrastructure. I see this as a provocation, not as the positive change it pretends to be.

‘“Being able to write well and think coherently were basic requirements in most graduate jobs 10, 15 years ago,” said a senior recruitment professional at a large consultancy firm from London, speaking anonymously. “Now, they are emerging as basically elite skills. Almost nobody can do it. We see all the time that people with top degrees cannot summarise the contents of a document, cannot problem solve.

‘[…] Various employers and professionals in HR and management positions shared that university leavers they encountered often struggled to speak on the phone or in meetings, take notes with a pen, relay messages precisely or complete written tasks without internet access.’

hard hard is trying to find drivers for windows! @Endof10
@Endof10 Of course, Linux is a better choice than Windows, but there are some applications which are available for Windows, only. Linux is also a solution for Windows 11 on unsupported hardware: libvirt+kvm are able to emulate TPM2 and modern CPUs. No Registry hacks on Windows 11 necessary.

@Endof10 I reccomend linux to clients not willing to throw their computers away

(I work in the computer & console repair industry btw)

@Endof10 I'd love to do one of these soon, but I'm just one person who has no idea how to do this...

If anybody in the NYC area wants to help for one of these events, please let me know.

@Endof10 Thanks for the shoutout! 👍

@cameron_bosch @Endof10 I’m out of town until early August, but I’m happy to help out when I’m back if it’s not too late.

I’m far from an expert, my current daily driver is a cheap Ubuntu desktop and I’ve mostly used Linux on servers. Still, happy to pitch in if I can.

@Betterthanlast @Endof10 It definitely won't be too late. As long as its before the EoL of Windows 10; August actually is good for me for now!
@cameron_bosch @Endof10 awesome, let me turn on notifications here just in case and let’s set something up! Maybe we can do a little bit of good!

@cameron_bosch @Endof10

@BetaNYC are you looking into this type of event?

@JMMaok @Endof10 @BetaNYC maybe. It's early days for this plan, but maybe if there's enough support, I can do something in the area or Westchester County (the county above the Bronx).

@Endof10

Move to Linux,
Just do it,
if you talk and think it over too long you are wasting time and learning nothing new and positive..

@Endof10 I find it easier and better to find alternative apps in free and open source software and migrate entire operations over to Linux rather than trying to replicate existing procedures that run on Windows over to Linux using tools like wine. Vendors of tools that run only on Windows are never going to support their apps on Linux anyway, so better to use something that is supported on Linux. The best and most performant databases have originated on Unix or Linux (with two notable exceptions) for the entire history of computing. Those exceptions are long obsolete and out of production now.
