An American in north Wales. Former politico, current Priest of the Church in Wales, Wrexham/Liverpool/Philly Union/Portland Timbers supporter, curling, poetry, art. Economic progressive, ardent traditionalist, bundle of contradictions. Source for hot takes on the footy and a (hopefully) measured response to everything else!

9,511 supporters to watch the Wrexham Women best Connahs Quay 2-1, lift the cup, and celebrate promotion to the premier women’s football league. It was a phenomenal atmosphere to rival what I’ve seen with the US Women’s national team. Great day for women’s football in wales, and for Wrexham. Now, that’s one league title down and one left to go! #Wrexham #WrexhamAFC #Wales #Football #Soccer #WelcometoWrexham #northwales #gogs #FAW
Today I received my Biometric Residence Permit that says on it “Indefinite Leave to Remain.” I was notified over the weekend I’d been granted the status. I’m now officially a permanent settled resident of the UK! For all the problems we have, I still feel immensely blessed to live where I do in the midst of much beauty and good folks! #Cymru #Wales #UK #Immigrant
Rare shot of number 10 without a moving van in front of it.
“Toot toot, I’m a train!” Network rail having a totally normal one. The government need to sit down, talk, and pay our transport infrastructure workers. More than two hours behind and about to make transfer number four of what should’ve been a one transfer trip. #UK #Trains #Strikes #StandWithWorkers
“We’re discovering now after so much thick-history has been bulldozed that without it we find it hard to sustain our social fabric and the earth. Only people who have lost their loyalty to their ancestors and the land can live so as to leave little for their children.” -Mark Clavier on the disconnection caused by post-modernity, bringing the heat in his book “A pilgrimage of paradoxes.”
Tomorrow is a fit of joy and happiness as we celebrate the birth of Christ, a riot of carols and candles as we place the baby in the manger. Today, we placed George in the ground, next to his first child. He died far too young, and is deeply missed by his family. But thanks be to God that babe in the manger was the same that laid in the tomb, and the same one that opened to us the path to life. And thanks be to God for this wonderful and varied vocation. #churchyard #cemetery #priesthood #CinW
Immensely grateful to have such a wonderful resource right on my doorstep when the time comes to work. Gladstone’s library is a beautiful place to write, and is the UK’s only Prime Ministerial library, with a focus on theology & politics. Glad they’re here when I need to slam through 6,000 words in a hurry! #library #NorthWales #gogs #cymru #Wales
You remember Davies? He died, you know, with his face to the wall, as the manner is of the poor peasant in his stone Croft on the Welsh hills. I recall the room under the slates, and the smirched snow of the wide bed in which he lay, lonely as an ewe that is sick to lamb in the hard weather of mid-March. I remember also the trapped wind tearing the curtains, and the wild light’s frequent hysteria upon the floor, the bare floors without a rug or mat to soften the loud tread
A gem from #RSThomas. As one blessed to serve in country churches, this is a feeling I know all too well. Looking forward to spending a bit more time this #Advent with the winter tree. @RSThomasPoet #Poetry #poem #wales #anglican #welsh
A lovely morning out with the kids and Mimi at the Liverpool Christmas Market. Always a highlight of the year to come into the city and enjoy the festive decorations! #Liverpool #ChristmasMarket #Christmas
