I think it's very cool that Her Grace will be making a Canterbury pilgrimage as part of her transition into being the Archbishop of Canterbury.

Archbishop on the Canterbury Trail - The Living Church

“For centuries, faithful pilgrims have flocked to Canterbury, and I will be reflecting on this tradition as we make our way through the Kent countryside and its towns and cities.”

The Living Church
This morning I would ask that you please #pray for me and the congregation I serve. This is my last #sunday with them. It is a bittersweet moment… my family and I are excited to be heading towards reception into the #Anglican church, but I will miss ministering to this people through #preaching and #sacrament.

In today's live-stream, we'll be taking a look at the 3rd and 4th chapters of the Wisdom of Solomon and what they have to say about the nature of the soul, life after death, and how our behavior now might affect what is to come.

We go live at 2:30 pm Hawai'i time! (And can be watched whenever after)

John Cunningham Geikie, missionary and later Anglican dean, wrote that Christianity’s teaching of human brotherhood condemns aggressive war—brothers rising against brothers. When faith proclaims unity, war becomes a revolt against that truth. How can we
resist turning conflict into conquest?

This photo of an #Anglican #priest appears to show a male version of #MegRyan's great "I'll Have What She's Having" scene.

Actually, he's just moving from #Ipswich to #York, and I have no idea why the #BBC thinks that is news ... other than as an opportunity to publish this photo showing The Reverend Tom Mumford apparently having far more pleasure than anyone is supposed to have in a church.

Henry Venn—Anglican minister and Church Missionary Society man—murmured that grace is no idle ornament. Reconciled heirs of God feel a gentle, pressing constraint: Christ’s love nudges them toward brotherly kindness and charity. Yet we bristle, redefine, retreat. Oh, but grace still asks: will love reach even those you disdain?

Arthur Stanley sighs over the rich man’s quiet crime: he did nothing. No blow, no theft—just velvet comfort while Lazarus waited at the gate. And isn’t that the modern defense? Sympathy in theory, distance in practice. Oh, the sin of folded hands. So—what will you actually do?

Charles John Ellicott, Anglican bishop, notes Paul doesn’t smash slavery with a hammer; he slips yeast into the dough. Christianity seeps in, alters the taste, and—awkwardly for slavery—turns chains into contradictions. Christianized bondage becomes liberty. So which institutions are you quietly leavening?

In today's livestream of the Wisdom of Solomon, we take a look at the celebrated second chapter and not only what it says about Jesus, but how it reflects our current world.

We go live at 2:30 Hawai'i time (but can be watched whenever after that, of course).
