Socially awkward penguin, rollin' hard in the land of fediverse chicks and reply guys.

I love wildflower season in the San Juans. And one of my favorite wildflowers to experience is Jacob's Ladder. Thankfully, the Crater Lake Trail had a seemingly endless supply ready for me this past weekend.

This is fireweed, a rather glorious #NativePlant that appears in profusion in my yard each year. It's taller than you are! I've read that parts of it are edible, so I'm going to try some nibbles to see if it might become a part of my salads.

Tiny friends I met today

Today is #WildlifeWednesday. Show me your photos of wildlife in your corner of the planet.

Here's a female common Merganser (Mergus Merganser) with some of her ducklings. Photographed a few years ago in the Comox Valley, Vancouver Island, BC.

The weather may be grey, but my garden isn't.
So grateful for summer blossoms.

Asphalt jungle. All this is growing in the cracks in the asphalt of a parking lot.

Happy #MushroomMonday! Here are a few unidentified mushrooms from a couple weeks agoβ€”my gut says they're all Amanita species, but I only took samples of one and I haven't given it a proper inspection under the microscope just yet.

@odawgie Not sure if the the 2nd/3rd one is a Caesar's amanita or a washed-out fly agaric
@hyacinthestripeyeen I lean towards Amanita flavoconia for those two, but I wouldn’t say I’m super confident in that. I did take a sample from one of those ones though so I should hopefully be able to confirm an ID under the microscope when I have some time
