I’m diligently keeping track of all the #books I’ve read/listened to this year, and so far I have 2 books + 1 series on my “Best of 2025” list:

1. A Kind of Madness by Uche Okonkwo
2. An African History of Africa by Zeinab Badawi
3. Kwei Quartey’s PI Emma Djan series

I love Robin Miles’ narration so much that I felt a bit disappointed that “Wife of the Gods” wasn’t read by her… I can’t wait for “The Whitewashed Tombs” #audiobook! 🇬🇭

Periodic reminder (to myself as much as anyone): you might feel the urge to self-censor today.

You may think of a funny joke, or snap a photo of something beautiful, or want to vent about a minor annoyance at work, or have something you made that you need to show the world.

And you might think about what’s happening in the world, and say, “Ugh, now is not the time.”

Look: post it anyway. You never know who might need the distraction and the uplift of your post. And it might never feel like the right time again.

When they named their company Hugging Face AI, this was what they want people to think of vs. this is what I can't help to think of every time it's mentioned.

So the plan is to let these people lose their homes, but then spend that money to warehouse them in some church basement.

Make it make sense...

Oregon housing budget would fund shelters, slash eviction prevention

Facing financial headwinds, Oregon lawmakers are weighing a housing budget with far less money than what Gov. Tina Kotek was asking for.

I’m sad about my weightlifting gym getting off of ClassPass, but I’d be heartbroken if my cycling gym got off of ClassPass… their official pricing is honestly outrageous because drop-ins are $32/class ($24/class if you buy a 20-class pack), while month-to-month unlimited classes are $209/month ($169/month with a 12-month contract). 💸💸💸

🚌 #PDX / #Oregon pals!

TriMet is asking for written testimony in support of House Bill 2025:

“Without this additional revenue from the transportation package, we would need to reduce our service by 27% by July 2027.”

Sample text, and a link to submit testimony, provided in the link below 👇

If you're in #portland #pdx, we have a MeshCore network forming. It's sort of next-generation following on the work from Meshtastic.

Get started for under $50, put a "repeater" on your roof for $100ish. LMK if you are interested.
