I apparently spend far more of my work time than is healthy on a microsoft windows laptop.
Every time I am allowed to go
back to do something on my #linux machine, it's like having the power of the universe in my fingers.
I followed some #vegan #flightFree people today to help recover from the news that the last eight years are the warmest on record. Thanks for being there! 💕
Looks like the richer nations are doing zip to cut climate pollution and cool the world. Even most of my IRL activist friends eat meat and dairy, fly regularly, and in general choose brief pleasure options over a habitable planet. Sooo weird given that beans and alt-meat taste great and that so many interesting places can be reached by foot, bike, train, or EV. We've been making the most of our week or so of summer weather in our natural #swimmingpond , cleaning it out and building some new internal stairs plus generally cooling off and snorkeling following the #fish around. They've all picked different little holes in the rock walls to live in, and have different personalities.
The native #landscaping has really come into its own this spring and summer, filling out the space nicely.
On the left in the first photo is our jumping rock, which has a sheer drop the full 1.8m depth right in front of it, as do the sandstone blocks in the distance. Behind the jumping rock is a shallow ledge where lots of fish love to live amongst the #aquatic #plants.
The #ecosystem and #wetland filtration system (second photo) are working well now to naturally filter the fresh water without the need for chlorine or salt.
At the end of every year, I write a thread on social media about upcoming anniversaries in the next year. The goal is just to entertain people and maybe learn something new along the way.
Of course, there are MANY, many such anniversaries - I only mention a handful that I find interesting, mostly related to #tech.
It's probably not an original idea, and other people probably do it better, but it's always fun for me. I hope it's okay if I do it here, too 😊
