I am thinking to travel to Latvia & Lithuania next week, since there are ferries from Sweden, from 18 to 28 of March, as a birthday gift to myself for my 40th birthday.

The Scandinavian winter has been extremely hard for my mental health, due to the darkness (it was the darkest winter for Northern Europe since 1934) so I really need a trip now that the snow melted and the spring is emerging.

I am also still trying to overcome the traumatizing deforestation incident that I experienced here 4 months ago (I haven't moved yet, and as it seems I will move in April due to bureaucracy issues that don't allow us to install a fence for the dog right after the moving day. Unbelievable things.)

I would love to meet with likeminded people who care about the Earth and all animals. I plan to be in Riga 19-20/3, in Vilnius 20-22/3 and in Kaunas after that.

I am open to visiting more places around these countries so please hit me up with ideas, recommendations of vegan restaurants / cafes and whatever cultural is worth to be visited!

Last, but not least, I would love to visit farm sanctuaries so if you know of any to recommend, please send me a private message.

My heart needs light, sun and joy, now, more than ever.

Read George's story, how he became a climate and social activist after quitting his job as a pilot for Ryan air.

George is also vegan.

In his interview he shares how he has been receiving pressure from people in the Aviation industry to keep his mouth shut...

George Hibberd - From an Easyjet pilot to a climate activist - Ethos and Empathy

After how many years of working as a pilot, you decided to quit this job and why? I started training as an airline pilot in January 2018 in New Zealand where my training school was based. In that time I started to become more aware of the climate and nature crisis through documentaries like Planet […]

Een nuttige aanvulling, maar aankomst in Hamburg om 6u57? Da’s wel wat vroeg voor mijn recreatieve reizen… Ontbijt in de lounge dan maar? 😉
Heeft/deelt European Sleeper eigenlijk ergens first class lounges?

Scottish people, in the Fort William area in particular: any recommendations for taxi/tour companies that could take me from Fort William to Glenfinnan (Monument & exhibition + a view on the Viaduct) and back on 10/10/2026? The only (well, that’s what he claims) electric taxi in the area is already booked that day…
Plenty of non-e options, but instead of emailing—or the horror, calling—them all, I’d rather follow up on some personal recommendations.

@OccasionalDucks My last flight was to Bucharest in 2016 (to a business commitment that should have been in Hamburg or Barcelona, where I would have travelled by train). I switched to Eurostar when the terminus moved from Waterloo to St. Pancras, ie 2008 or so. #flightfree

I’ve been #FlightFree for a number of years using the simple but effective approach of just not buying any aeroplane tickets or getting on board any aeroplanes- if that is something you struggle with for some reason maybe this will help you though - and it is certainly amusing to read :-)

I've made the flight free pledge. So could you.

Fight climate change: make the pledge to be flight free in 2026

RE: https://graphics.social/@metin/115751067159275042

"The CO2 emitted by aircraft only causes about half the climate impact of aviation. The other half comes from contrails— artificial clouds that are created by soot in the engine exhaust.

In certain conditions, aircraft will leave contrails that linger for hours and turn into artificial cirrus clouds. These clouds act like a blanket on the planet and significantly add to global warming...."

On Flight free traveling - Ethos and Empathy

The last time I stepped on a plane was 2018. Since then, I advocate for flight free travels, for the sake of the environment but also because it’s a matter of environmental justice (I explain thoroughly why aviation is extremely detrimental not only for the planet but also for people who have never stepped on […]
