🇫🇷 Une porte assez simple mais avec une poignée en forme de paon. Une des quelques portes particulières vues samedi dernier à Monreal. Les autocollants "20 C + M + B 26" sont apposés sur de nombreuses portes de maisons en Allemagne. C'est une tradition de l'épiphanie, où des enfants appelés "Sternsinger" vont de maison en maison pour chanter et récolter des dons. Les maisons sont également bénies et cet autocollant (ou une inscription à la craie) est le symbole de la bénédiction. Les initiales sont celles des rois mages en allemand. Cette tradition existe aussi à l'est de la Belgique dans les cantons d'Eupen et St-Vith (région donnée à la Belgique à la suite du premier conflit mondial).

🇬🇧 A simple door but with a peacock-shaped handle. One of the few private doors seen last Saturday in Monreal. "20 C + M + B 26" stickers are affixed to many house doors in Germany. It is a tradition of Epiphany, children called "Sternsinger" go from house to house to sing and collect donations. The houses are also blessed and this sticker (or a chalk inscription) is the symbol of the blessing. The initials are those of the wise men in German. This tradition also exists in the east of Belgium in the cantons of Eupen and St-Vith (region given to Belgium following the First World War).

Entry door of the "El Cortez" apartment building in Denver's Capitol Hill neighborhood featuring paired engaged columns with ornate capitals, a name-bearing entablature, and a richly detailed semicircular tympanum flanked by twisted shafts. Two guardian lions complete the exuberant composition, which has Spanish Baroque/Spanish Revival overtones and is typical of the eclectic revivalist architecture used throughout central Denver in early 20th century walk-up apartment buildings.

I pass this building frequently on walks through the neighborhood and it always catches my eye.
