Does stuff with #mesh networks, #multicast and #freesoftware. 🦇

An initial #PIM #multicast peering was added to the #Nobreakspace / @chaotikumev on #dn42. The #BGP multicast channel approach works great. And receiving an audio stream from three hops away on an ethernet port in the hackspace worked like charm. Only receiving it on the hackspace WiFi with default #OpenWrt settings was really choppy. It's not yet as optimized for that as it is on our #Freifunk Wifi at @ffhl ;-).

I just wanted to make a little #multicast safety feature in the Linux bridge available to #switchdev + #DSA, too, to use it on #rtl83xx / #rtl93xx #Realtek drivers / switches later. One suggestion on the PR was like, maybe we could do the locking differently or use atomics. Me several hours later:
And I think it could also be a fun challenge to try to #mesh between the foresty half islands, over the lake or via multiple hops between the two villages there.
They also had this huge mansion and some smaller apartments for the "rabble". Where you can rent rooms. And it immediately made me wonder if it could be something for a #Freifunk Festival or @battlemesh style event. With the mix of open areas (maybe also useful for camping?), forests and lake there'd be quite a few opportunities to try to #mesh #WLAN devices in a variety of paths. As long as you bring some batteries.
But many opportunities to just relax and hang out, too. Like canoeing etc.
Had been hiking + #geocaching, with my dad a month ago at a place south of #Lübeck, south of #Ratzeburg, in a forrest surrounded by a lake. We had excellent weather and it felt like just the right amount of remoteness, not many people, no rush, but not 100% away from civilization either, you'd see some other hikers occasionally, many barns and there was also a nice restaurant at the lake with excellent food, too. 1/x
So for the #IPv6 #MTU issues we seemed to stumble over at @ffhl, with our asymmetric #BGP routes to/from @FreifunkHamburg / @freifunkMUC I now wrote a small bash script to test a list of websites with varying, asymmetric MTUs: https://github.com/T-X/ipv6-path-mtu-discovery-verifier/. There is a suspicious amount of #Microsoft websites for the failed tests at the bottom.
Next steps would be to add analyzing of #tcpdump captures. But in a few samples it seemed like those sites did not receive / react to our #ICMPv6 Packet Too Big
