Keep our campuses safe! Please use the first link in our bio to urge Gov. Spanberger to amend HB650 to REQUIRE that schools notify students of ICE activity on campus.

Just received a mailer with a blatant racist attempt (obviously from Republicans and their affiliates) to encourage Virginia Voters to vote NO on redistricting claiming it will lead to Jim Crow era abuses.

How stupid are people if they fall for this. We obviously are voting YES for redistricting. Just also got our special ballots in the mail.

Paid sick leave bill passes Virginia House of Delegates • Virginia Mercury

In Virginia, companies decide whether or not they will offer paid sick days to their employees, because there is no state policy that sets a minimum for how much sick time employers must offer. After several years of attempts, legislation to require paid sick leave for workers has cleared Virginia’s House of Delegates on Monday.

"On Feb. 9, 2026, the employees from Domino’s in Blacksburg held a workers’ rights strike. The employees protested against being paid minimum wage while enduring a low turnover employee rate and higher management issues."

Did you know that a better collective bargaining bill is making its way through the General Assembly? SB 378 would give universal public sector collective bargaining rights to public employees such as teachers & school staff, firefighters, police officers, and municipal workers, without requiring approval from School Boards or City Councils. Please email your state delegate and senator in support of SB 378!
Look up your VA delegate and senator here: https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov
A similar universal public sector collective bargaining bill passed the General Assembly in 2025 but was vetoed by then-Gov. Youngkin. Gov. Spanberger is more likely to sign. So far the bill has passed out of its house subcommittee and senate subcommittee.

State bill aims to designate local zoning districts for homes on small lots • Virginia Mercury

The idea is to encourage more housing density while still allowing single-family homes in neighborhoods, and is among a flurry of housing bills that have been advancing in this year’s legislative session.

With all the tiktok drama I have been telling people Mastodon is still here and kicking!! I love this app and I really think the decentralized model is the best for social media.

Still, people don’t want to join! What do you think Mastodon’s biggest barriers are to courting new users? What could be done to improve the product and grow the user base in a positive way?
