In Virginia, companies decide whether or not they will offer paid sick days to their employees, because there is no state policy that sets a minimum for how much sick time employers must offer. After several years of attempts, legislation to require paid sick leave for workers has cleared Virginia’s House of Delegates on Monday.

Did you know that a better collective bargaining bill is making its way through the General Assembly? SB 378 would give universal public sector collective bargaining rights to public employees such as teachers & school staff, firefighters, police officers, and municipal workers, without requiring approval from School Boards or City Councils. Please email your state delegate and senator in support of SB 378!
Look up your VA delegate and senator here: https://whosmy.virginiageneralassembly.gov
A similar universal public sector collective bargaining bill passed the General Assembly in 2025 but was vetoed by then-Gov. Youngkin. Gov. Spanberger is more likely to sign. So far the bill has passed out of its house subcommittee and senate subcommittee.
